Friday December 5th, 7 to 9
Along their journey deeper into rope, Jacques and Aven have encountered many barriers that wedged between them just as they were trying to pull closer together. A common refrain among many that connect through rope bondage, is that no one knows if it’s a lab or a scene, if they are practicing or if it’s for real. Loaded down with the disquiet of this ambiguity, many scenes end, whether early or not, with a sense of never really connecting to each other, without ambiguity.
Follow the Line is a curriculum that Jacques and Aven have pulled right from their own practice. Through the use of one rope, they have found a way to connect to each other, unambiguously, by following the line between them. Beginning with one rope techniques learned from teachers around the world, deeply drinking these techniques into their practice, Jacques and Aven have enjoyed a deep sense of connection in all of their rope practice, whether labbing or scening, through these approaches to connection through following the line.
Required Prerequisites & Equipment
- For this class, participants will need only a single standard length rope for the tied partner.
- The techniques require close proximity, and touch to perform. Knowledge of tying a non-collapsing single column tie, as well as an understanding of the tied partners neuro-anatomy is required.
About the Instructors:
Jacques LeBouc (he/him) has been in love with rope since buying his first hanks of rope in 2012. In the five years that followed, he continued his exploration. But, it was only after meeting his wife and partner, Aven, that his love for the discipline turned to utter fascination. For Jacques, Kinbaku and Semenawa embody creativity, beauty, deep connection, lust, and playfulness. On his continuing rope journey, Jacques seeks out every opportunity to learn from wonderfully talented rope teachers around the world.
Aven (she/her) was introduced to rope by Jacques in early 2018. She was captivated by its demand for discipline, and its potential as a figurative art. After a few years of general study, Aven has developed her own lines of inquiry and manners of expression that are unique in the craft.
As a figurative artist, the correlatives between emotion and pose are of particular interest. Whether by performance or rendering on a surface, she continues to explore the tension between the inner experience of the soul through the senses of the body.
