Partial Predicaments

What if practice time was also play time?

price per tying pair:

BOUND Members $20 |TIED Members $30 | WRAPPED Members $40

Friday June 13th, 7PM to 9PM

In this workshop we'll use uplines and lock-offs to create partial suspensions and predicaments for play - scenes where our partners have (the illusion of) a choice between two challenging outcomes. This class focuses on setting the scene for connection and frontloading effort to allow for a smoother and more intimate tie. There will be demonstration and practice time for multiple partial-based predicaments.

Things to bring:

  • A kit of rope (6-8 lengths) including some that can be used for uplines

  • Suspension hardware

  • Cutting tool

Prerequisites:

The person tying should be comfortable tying harnesses on the body that do not collapse under load, attaching up-lines, and locking them off.

The person being tied should have some experience with being partially or fully suspended and be capable of either verbal or non-verbal communication under stress.

    About the Instructors:

    Ordinals (Nora) (they/them)

Nora Last (they/them) is a queer switch, cheesemonger emeritus, and the Big Boss of Devil Mask Studio. You’ll most frequently see them behind the desk, running registration from our nerve center. Nora brings over a decade of experience to the studio, having taught across North America about the intersections of rope, embodiment, neurodiversity, and kink. Their work has been strongly shaped by collaboration with a number of educators, most importantly Ojipan, GoodMostTimes, and Hedwig. Outside of the studio, Nora possesses a deep appreciation for life’s small pleasures. When not guiding transformative workshops or honing their rope skills, they indulge in the art of crafting intricate cocktails and curating exquisite cheese boards. These personal interests underscore their belief that the purpose of life is to find delight in its many forms. Nora is thrilled to offer Devil Mask Studio as a secure and welcoming environment for individuals to explore the ways that a rope practice can unlock pleasure, agency, and self-discovery.

Goodmosttimes (Melissa) - She / Her

goodmosttimes AKA Melissa (she/her) started her rope education, as a bottom, in early 2012. She has since continued to expand her knowledge as a switch. She loves to share new techniques from both sides of a tie which led to developing and teaching comprehensive curricula for people honing their skills for tying and being in rope (the Cell and Cell X programs respectively). Fortunate to be based in Los Angeles, CA, she has happily been part of the Devil Mask Society since its inception and is a co-founder of Devil Mask Studio alongside her partners Ojipan and Ordinals. She has an extensive background in event production and organized Ropenspace LA, NARIX 2016, and Kinoko’s Los Angeles Cyber Rope performance as well as innumerable rope intensives.
