Studio Friction big web suspension community tie

with
Hajime Kinoko

We invite you to join us in suspending AS MANY PEOPLE AS WE CAN utilizing all the wall and ceiling points (which just may have been installed with this specific event in mind 7 years ago….). This will be a fun community building art installation.

Please bring as much rope as you have in a natural color. If you don’t have natural jute or hemp rope, find your closest color to natural in your kit. Those being tied, please wear black or dark clothing for continuity.

We will be getting as many people up in the space as possible (safety in mind) with some direction from Kinoko. This will not be a class, but a community art installation. We will need to move rather quickly to accomplish this in the timeframe. It is advised to come to this event as a tying pair in order to get as many people in the air in a timely manner. Load lines will be primarily from above, with some additional lines pulling. Bottoms,  be prepared to withstand being suspended in one position for 15-30 minutes. If you are not confident you have the skills to tie or bottom for this tie safely, we trust you will wait until next time. If you believe you have the skill to safely tie more than one partner, we will trust you to make that decision.

We will make a video and take some photos of the installation. Face masks will be provided by Studio Friction to conceal your identity for this portion if you would like them.

For a few references on what this might look like (just bigger maybe?)

Hajime Kinoko – He/Him

Rope artist, contemporary performer, bondage master, photographer. Nature, mother Earth, creativity, heart and mind, mother, friends, the things we like, and then our DNA memory. All the things around us are interconnected and interrelated. Our instincts and inner memories resuscitate by means of a single thread, as they bloom through the fate of one single red rope.

Hajime Kinoko’s achievements. Born on October, 1977, blood type B. Domiciled in “Shibatta-city” (which when pronounced in Japanese also means “tied”), 4-6 Shibatta, in the “Minami” district of Nagoya, he attended the “Aoi-nawa” (which in Japanese also means “blue rope”) kindergarten, and graduated from the Tokai municipal “Nawa” (“rope”) elementary school. His obvious destiny was extensively connected to ropes from an early age and were some of the very first confirmations inviting him to become the worldwide renowned rope specialist he is today.

His activities focus on installations using ropes, photographic works, and show performance “The bond between all things” is revealed and expressed through the use of ropes and threads, strings and installations, and photographic works.

Kinoko frequently undertakes projects such as interior decoration and event venue preparation, picture production, and also creates artistic objects.
